SHORT HISTORY

In 1646, during the harvester’s war, Philip 4th’s troops looted the center and destroyed part of the city walls.
In spite of this, during the 17th and 18th century the castle maintained its religious power, with a cemetery which caused people to believe there were witches in the castle.

At the beginnings of the 19th century, vineyards expanded, and cult was moved to a new neoclassical church, the castle remained as cemetery until 1937.

The castle remained abandoned until 1980, when it started to be restored.
