DESCRIPTION
This museum houses the works of art collected by Antoni Deu, notary public
in El Vendrell, who presented them to the town. The legacy is administered
by the Fundació Pública Municipal Deu Font and is composed
of paintings, drawings, sculpture, pottery, glass and ivory works, oriental
carpets and many examples of religious art.
The personal criteria of the notary public makes the legacy particular,
as there is no thematic or chronologic unity, it is defined by its diversity.
The religious carvings, present-day sculptures, paintings, drawings, the
oriental carpet collection, the mortars, the epoch furniture, modernist
glass and contemporary pottery make an ensemble that has been maintained,
in spite of the difficulties of the museum installation, so that the visitors
can understand the feelings of the collector notary public.
The most attractive area of the Deu Museum is the carpet hall,
where visitors walk on a glass floor and can admire under their feet the
oriental carpet and chamber pot collections.
During the summer-time the Museums gardens are used as the location
for free concerts.
